Meet The Owner
Ms. Tonna
My name is Iatonna Steed, Director, and Owner of The Children's House. At a young age, I knew I was highly interested in the education of children. Raised in Chicago, Illinois, I grew up taking care of children at the church I was raised in. I then moved to Texas and after graduating high school I began work at a Montessori School. I enrolled in college and earned my Child Development Associates degree and earned my Childcare Director Credentials as well. I worked as a director for 5 years and went to school for nursing at the same time. I worked at a hospital for 2 years and decided that I still wanted to work with children. So in 2019, I opened my own childcare center and have loved it ever since. When I am not taking care of babies I enjoy running, reading, and writing.

Training
All employees are background checked and Pediatric/Adult CPR and first aid certified. All staff is trained in dealing with emergency situations.
Training hours are received yearly to stay up to date with all new resources and procedures.

After a year at Tonnas, I couldn’t be happier with the level of care and education. I want to add as well that Tonna also communicates very well with me as the parent- providing updates on the day's activities and a review of the day's schedule when I pick up my child. She is also very transparent and allows me to come and feed my child as needed- this I appreciate most!
Oh, and her home is not chaotic! Even with toddlers, there aren't a million toys strewn about the place with kids running all amuck. It's organized and enriching to every age group. It's a peaceful environment even with a crying baby and four toddlers.
